Overview

  • Dr. Magdy received his medical degree from Cairo University Medical School. He conducted his post-doctoral fellowship in gastroenterology research at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Magdy finished his internal medicine residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at East Carolina University, where he served as the Chief Fellow. He completed his Interventional Endoscopy Fellowship at Emory University. Dr. Magdy specializes in gastrointestinal cancers, achalasia, gastroparesis, and pancreaticobiliary disease. In addition to endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), he has special advanced training in endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for removing gastrointestinal tumors, peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) to address swallowing disorders such as achalasia and gastric peroral endoscopic myotomy (GPOEM) for treating refractory gastroparesis. Dr. Magdy is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Gastrointestinal Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is board-certified in internal medicine and Gastroenterology.

    Dr. Magdy focuses on clinical trials and high impact translational research in therapeutic endoscopy. He is frequently studying conditions such as gastrointestinal cancer, achalasia, and gastroparesis. Dr. Magdy is the primary author of multiple milestone peer-reviewed studies published in the most prestigious GI journals.

    Dr. Magdy is a proud father of Adham (4 years old) and Omar (2 years old) and he loves to spending time with his two boys.
