Positions

Overview

  • As Director of Sponsored International Programs in the Office of the Vice President for Research, I work with UAB faculty and existing and potential international partners to promote, develop, and facilitate sponsored international research, training, and service programs, and to facilitate communications and interactions between international programs at UAB and entities responsible for compliance and oversight. I also serve as Director of Global Health Operations in the UAB School of Medicine. In this position, I participate in the planning, facilitation, coordination and monitoring of the School’s international activities and programs. Over my career in global health, I have participated in the development and implementation of educational, research, and/or service programs and related activities in the U.S., Latin America, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. Prior to assuming my current positions, I served in a variety of capacities at both the UAB Schools of Public Health and Medicine and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Schools of Medicine and Public Health. In 1994, I was honored by the International Health Section of the American Public Health Association with its Distinguished Service Award and, in 2011, by the International Services Council of Alabama by being named to its Model Citizen Diplomatic Corps.
