Overview

  • Dr. Perez-Costas has extensive experience as an academic and administrator. She was recruited to UAB as an Assistant Professor in 2007 with primary appointment at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology, and secondary appointments in Neurobiology, Psychology and Cell Biology. She left UAB in 2014 and did a brief stint as science writer and editor before returning to UAB as a research administrator in 2015.
    Dr. Perez-Costas has currently a dual role directing the research administration office at the Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics and Palliative Care, and as center administrator for the Integrative Center for Aging Research — A University-Wide Interdisciplinary Center dependent on the Office of the VP for Research at UAB.
    Dr. Perez-Costas has extensive experience in research, science communication and research administration. In her current role, she oversees the grant submissions and postaward team, provides advice to researchers regarding grant submission, coaches early investigators in grantsmanship and career development.
