Overview

  • Chris Edmonds is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the UAB Collat School of Business. He coordinates the mass section face-to-face and online Principles of Accounting courses. Dr. Edmonds teaches accounting with a business decision-making approach. Today’s market values critical thinking more than the ability to follow a set of manual accounting procedures. His courses are flipped and very interactive. For his online accounting classes, he has created hundreds of short videos teaching accounting with a decision making approach. He has received numerous teaching awards from UAB as well as from Virginia Tech. He is also an author on several best-selling accounting textbooks.

    Research Overview

  • His research is focused in two areas: the capital market effects of financial reporting and accounting education. He has written articles that have appeared in publications including: The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Advances in Accounting, and Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Issues in Accounting Education, and Advances in Accounting Education. He serves on several editorial boards and is a frequent speaker at universities conferences.
