    Dr. Bosarge joined the UAB Acute Care Surgery faculty in June 2012 following academic appointments at the University of South Alabama Medical Center and East Tennessee State University. Dr. Bosarge has served within the United States Army to include three combat tours in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan.     Carroll, Shannon, Assistant Professor (P) 2013 -

    Shannon Carroll, M.D., joined the faculty of UAB’s Department of Surgery Division of Acute Care Surgery in 2013. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Carroll is an ATLS Instructor and active researcher. Her research activities include; operative management of thoracic wall injuries, peptic ulcer prophylaxis, foreign body ingestion of toys, VATS vs. chest tube, FFP-only transfusion and thrombotic events.

    Dr. Daniel Cox joined the Division of Acute Care Surgery in July 2018 as an associate professor of surgery and as the new trauma medical director.

    Cox is a graduate of the UAB School of Medicine and completed general surgery and surgical critical care fellowships at UAB before beginning his military service in 2012.

    Dr. Hwang completed his residency in general surgery at State University of New York at Buffalo, followed by fellowship training in burn surgery at the University of South Florida and a surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Florida in Jacksonville. He served on faculty at the University of North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center from 2010-2017. He was then recruited to UAB to become the director of the UAB Burn Program.
