Overview

  • Carlos Arguello MD, FACE is Associate Professor of Medicine in in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of Alabama School of Medicine
    He is a clinician-educator who joined UAB in 2005. His main clinical interests are the management of diabetes mellitus, lipid and adrenal disorders, and general endocrinology. In addition to a large and busy clinical practice, he serves as the Medical Director of the Endocrinology Clinic at the Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital since 2011. In this capacity he oversees the daily clinical activities of the clinic.
    He is also actively involved in in pre and postgraduate medical education. He has been a preceptor in the Introduction to Clinical Medicine course since 2005, where he teaches the fundamental of clinical diagnosis and clinical reasoning to 1st and 2nd year medical students. He has been a member of the Clinical Scholar Program of the UASOM since its inception in 2013. He delivers monthly lectures in the management of diabetes mellitus to internal medicine residents, who also regularly attend his outpatient endocrinology clinic during their elective rotations. He also plays a major role in his division’s fellowship program acting as a mentor for the fellow’s clinical training.
    Dr. Arguello is a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology, and member of The Endocrine Society, The American Diabetes Association, and The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist.
