Babak Orandi is an abdominal transplant surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he is also the surgical director of the Pediatric Liver Transplant Program and surgical director of the Kidney Transplant Accountable Care Team. He completed a combined Bachelors/MD program at the University of Michigan, where he graduated with distinction in research and completed a master’s in clinical investigation. He did his general surgery residency and PhD in clinical investigation at Johns Hopkins, followed by an abdominal transplant surgery fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. His work has been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, BMJ, Annals of Internal Medicine, the American Journal of Transplantation, and Transplantation.
